Perplexity MCP for Claude Code: Setup & Search Context

Perplexity MCP for Claude Code is a search toolbox. In 2026 the definitive setup is PinVari first, then one search server you can explain. Search is pages. Capture is a control.

Most posts start with an API key. They never tell you a changelog will drown the toggle.

See Claude Code MCP, MCP tools, and best MCP servers.

Search is pages. It cannot name the button under your pointer.

Key

Read the server README you install. I will not invent a flag. Add search only after Option-Command-A works.

Install Claude Code. Install PinVari on 127.0.0.1:3402. Prove pinvari_next_instruction. Then add search. Store the key in the team secret store. Call one dated web fact. If search and the window disagree, believe the window.

How to give Claude Code context is the rest of the diet. Can Claude Code see my screen? Not via search.

What are vibe coding tools techniques for a beginner?

They are the steps you do the same way every session. Pick a repo or a hosted draft. State one change. Show the control. Review the diff. Run the test you already have.

They are not "chat until it looks right." That is a loop, not a technique.

One change per capture. Two spoken bugs in one breath become one confused patch.

Key

From zero, install one editor and one capture path. Do not install three builders on day one. You will not know which seat wrote the header.

Which beginner strategies actually work in 2026?

The one-seat generate strategy

Type: Cursor or Claude Code on a real folder.

Capture: repo plus MCP later.

Resolution: you can open git status. Hosted preview alone cannot.

The hosted-draft strategy

Type: a builder when there is no repo yet.

Capture: their chat and their iframe.

Resolution: fine for a clickable sketch. Weak when the real Safari window is the review.

The named-element strategy

Type: PinVari on macOS 14+.

Capture: Accessibility role, label, frame, confidence, spoken words.

Resolution: the control you circled. 39 dollars at PinVari pricing. Connector on 127.0.0.1:3402.

The paste-a-PNG strategy

Type: screenshot into chat.

Capture: pixels.

Resolution: the model guesses. CleanShot X is excellent at pixels and silent on names.

I do not quote builder or editor plan prices. Check each site.

How do I run the from-zero walkthrough?

1. Install Cursor or Claude Code. Open a folder that already has git if you have one. If you do not, git init before the first agent edit.

2. Write one sentence at the top of the ticket: the change a user can see.

3. Run the app or the site the way a user runs it. Not only the builder iframe.

4. Install PinVari. Grant Accessibility. Connect the agent. One click inside the app, or the documented claude mcp add --scope user pinvari command with the connector path.

5. Hold Option-Command-A. Circle the control. Speak the change in one sentence. Press again or Return to finish.

6. Let the agent call pinvari_next_instruction. Stay in that file. Review the diff as if a junior wrote it.

7. Reload. If it is still wrong, the agent can call pinvari_request_capture and the notch island lights up.

8. File Linear or GitHub only after the named element is in the record.

Voice-only is Option-Command-V. Pause on a long page is Option-Command-P. Marks keep their frames when you scroll.

Full focused-window text goes up to 40,000 characters, including text scrolled out of view. That helps when the bug is copy, not layout.

Name the control. "The blue button" is four buttons on a typical settings page.

Tip

If confidence is below 0.8, answer the ask. A silent guess is how the agent edits the wrong tab.

Which techniques should I skip on day one?

Skip multi-agent swarms. You cannot debug two writers.

Skip dumping the whole repo into a new chat every prompt. Open the file. Point at the control.

Skip paying for a second generate seat "just in case." Two generate seats without a handoff ship two navbars.

Skip treating Jam.dev or Marker.io as your only capture if you also review native Mac apps and Electron shells. Those tools are strong in a Chromium tab. They stop at the tab.

Wispr Flow proves push-to-talk is a habit people pay for. Point the habit at a named element, not a floating transcript.

The longer habit writeup is the vibe coding tutorial. Pairing without a named mark is just AI pair programming with extra paste.

How do I keep techniques honest when AX is empty?

Canvas, some games, and lazy Electron trees can return a bare group. PinVari retries after AXManualAccessibility and can fall back to on-device OCR.

That is not failure. It is a different resolution path. Write "OCR fallback" on the ticket so the next person does not pretend the AX path existed.

Dwell of about 0.2 seconds can resolve a control without a circle. I still circle when I teach beginners. The lime trail is a receipt.

Multi-display marks remember the monitor. If the bug is on the laptop and the agent is on the ultrawide, say which screen you marked.

Deictic words bind to the pointer trail. "This" means the element under the pointer when you said it. Do not wave the pointer after you start speaking.

Ask, never guess. That rule is for you and for the agent.

How do I practice the same technique for a week?

Pick one product surface. Settings, checkout, or onboarding. Not all three.

Each day, mark one control. Speak one sentence. Review one diff. Reload one path.

Write the file name you expected. If the agent opened another file, that is the lesson, not a new technique.

Boring is the point. A new stack every day is shopping.

If you miss a day, do not double up. One mark. The backlog is how novels start.

Keep a paper checklist. Digital checklists grow tabs. Tabs grow extra MCP servers.

I treat vibe coding as the culture page. This page stays on techniques you can practice today.

A checklist you can copy

Beginner vibe session
[ ] One generate seat named
[ ] One visible change written in one sentence
[ ] App or site running the way a user runs it
[ ] PinVari running, 127.0.0.1:3402
[ ] Option-Command-A mark on the control
[ ] Spoken change is one sentence
[ ] Diff reviewed in the named file
[ ] Reload before the next mark

Copy that into a note. Do not invent a second process on day two.

FAQ

Do I need vibe coding tools techniques if I already chat in Cursor?

Yes, if your chats wander. Techniques are the rails: one change, one mark, one review. Chat without rails is how a beginner rewrites a working form.

Are vibe coding tools techniques the same as a tool list?

No. A list is vibe coding tools. Techniques are the order of operations. You can use a cheap editor and still ship if the capture is named.

What is the first technique I should practice from zero?

Circle one control and speak one sentence. Then read the diff. Repeat until that loop is boring.

Can I start on a hosted builder and move to git later?

Yes, if you write the handoff day. A builder iframe is a draft. Staging in the real browser is the review. Do not keep two sources of truth.

Does PinVari replace my editor?

No. It names the on-screen control and hands a local MCP payload to the editor you already use. You still review the patch.

What mistakes burn a beginner’s first week?

The first is describing the whole page. The agent then rewrites the layout. Stay on the one control you circled.

The second is accepting the first diff because it compiled. Compile is not the user path. Click the path.

The third is mixing a hosted builder and a local folder without saying which one is source of truth. Pick one for the day.

The fourth is granting every MCP server you saw in a directory. Add one. Call one tool. Then add the next.

The fifth is speaking a novel. One sentence. If you need three sentences, you need three marks.

Short speech, long review. The review is where you learn the codebase.

When AX is thin, say so in the ticket. "Bare group, OCR used" is useful. "Looks off" is not.

If you work on Intel or Apple Silicon, PinVari supports both on macOS 14+. The limit is the sandbox story: the notarized Developer-ID DMG can do the global hotkey.

Keep captures organized by app in the Command Center. Crash-safe recovery exists. Still, finish the mark before you reboot.

I file tracker tickets only after the agent has the named element. A human ticket without a label becomes a meeting.

If you want a second practice loop, record the same bug twice: once as a PNG paste, once as a named mark. Compare how many turns each took.

Teams later add rules files and hooks. You do not need those on day one. You need a folder, a running window, and Option-Command-A.

When the agent asks you to point mid-task, do it. pinvari_request_capture exists because text follow-ups drift.

Do not name every vendor in the first week. Lovable, Bolt, and v0 are fine drafts. Cursor and Claude Code are fine generate seats. Jam.dev is fine for console in a tab. None of those name a native window control.

CleanShot X stays in the stack for pixel-perfect marketing shots. It does not replace a named element.

If someone on your team uses Wispr Flow for dictation, keep it for email. Use PinVari when the words must bind to a control.

Write the breakpoint if the bug is layout. 1440 by 900 is not a phone frame. Put the size in the spoken sentence.

Write the URL if the bug is a web page. PinVari can read the real browser URL from the AX web area. Still say the environment: staging or production.

Selected text in the window is part of spatial context. If you highlighted a string, mention that you selected it.

Interactive-element maps help the agent see siblings. You still circle the one you care about. Maps without a mark are a dump.

That is vibe coding tools techniques in 2026: from zero, one seat, one mark, one review.

Hand your agent the exact element

PinVari resolves what you point at into a named, executable instruction — on-device, no keys, your own agent. One click inside PinVari connects Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or Codex — or paste one CLI line from pinvari.com/connect.
