Effective September 5, 2026. This policy describes the Image Downloader extension provided by PinVari, operated by KAK Digital LLC.
What the extension does
When you click Image Downloader or its right-click page action, it reads image information from the active page and opens a local workspace. It fetches the images you choose to download, optionally resizes them or converts their format, and creates files on your device. Right-clicking an image can open its download preview or a collection destination picker. The side panel collects alongside the source page. Image versions are checked only when you choose Check versions.
Data and storage
The extension does not send image contents, page or image URLs, browsing history, titles, filenames or collection names to a PinVari server. Usage and reliability diagnostics are enabled for new Chrome Web Store installations, as described below. Existing preferences are preserved on updates. The extension contains no third-party tracking SDKs or account registration.
Settings are saved in Chrome’s local extension storage. Temporary page URLs, image URLs and selections are held in Chrome’s session storage and are cleared when Chrome restarts or the extension reloads. Closing a regular collection’s workspace also removes its temporary session data. A side-panel collection is scoped to a browser window and remains in session storage when its panel is hidden, until the window or browser closes or the extension reloads.
When you explicitly save a collection, its image references, sources, selections, favorites, filters and export settings are stored in IndexedDB on this device. Named filter presets are stored there too. Saved collections survive closing Chrome; source images are not automatically backed up offline. Archived collections still occupy storage. You can restore them or permanently delete them from the archive. Exported files and source reports remain wherever you save them until you delete them.
Library backups contain image references and settings, not downloaded image bytes. Imports create new copies. Unreadable saved records are kept for recovery rather than deleted automatically. Recovery downloads may contain the original stored source addresses; inspect them before sharing.
Contact sheets are generated locally from your selection. They contain image previews and, if chosen, filenames and source links. The extension does not upload these sheets or send them to anyone. Download queues retain unfinished prepared data while their workspace is open; completed ZIPs remain in your downloads.
Usage & reliability
Usage and reliability diagnostics are enabled automatically for new Chrome Web Store installations of version 2.5.0 and later. Updating an existing installation does not automatically enable diagnostics; existing settings, including opt-outs, are preserved. You can turn reporting off at any time in Help & privacy → Usage & reliability. These reports help improve download reliability and understand version adoption. Diagnostics are not required to collect, preview, organize or download images. When enabled, the extension sends a random device identifier, event identifier, extension version, interface language, browser family, operating system and CPU architecture to PinVari. It reports events such as workspace opens, collection scans, exports, local library saves, contact sheets, review prompts and optional ecosystem-link interactions. Export reports contain only counts, bytes, duration, format and a fixed failure category. They never include page URLs, image URLs, titles, filenames, image pixels, collection identifiers or names, clipboard contents or account information.
PinVari derives an approximate country from the hosting provider’s request headers. Diagnostic tables do not store raw IP addresses or raw user-agent strings. Like any network request, the request is visible to hosting and network infrastructure, which may process normal request information for delivery, security and reliability under the PinVari website privacy policy.
A random device identifier is not linked to a PinVari account. Signed credentials stored in the extension authorize later diagnostic events and deletion. With diagnostics enabled, Chrome also receives a signed uninstall URL so removal can be reported once. Removal reporting is best effort and may not arrive when offline.
Turning diagnostics off stops future reporting, clears the uninstall URL and requests deletion of that device’s stored diagnostics. If the deletion request cannot reach PinVari, the extension tells you deletion could not be confirmed; future reporting remains off. Individual events become eligible for deletion after 120 days, and inactive device identifiers expire after 120 days without a diagnostic event. Automated cleanup runs daily. Exported files and locally saved collections are unaffected. Diagnostics credentials do not have a separate time limit, but are rejected after their device record is deleted or expires.
Network requests
Image previews, version checks, clipboard preparation and downloads contact the original image hosts. Those hosts receive normal network request information, such as your IP address. Download fetches omit credentials; preview behavior is governed by Chrome.
The extension requests optional host access for the images or additional source pages you select. It scans additional tabs or scrolls a source only after you choose those operations. Scroll capture is bounded and stops when you cancel or close the workspace. It does not automatically crawl arbitrary page links.
Permissions
activeTab and scripting read images on the page where you invoke the extension. storage remembers settings and temporary collection data; IndexedDB stores saved collections and presets. downloads saves files and checks completion. contextMenus adds the page and image right-click actions. sidePanel displays the collection alongside a webpage. Copy image writes PNG pixels, and Copy URL writes chosen addresses, only after your explicit action. The extension does not read your clipboard. PNG conversion uses a single frame for animated sources.
Optional tabs permission reads tab titles and URLs when you open the tab picker. Optional HTTP/HTTPS host access reads selected source pages and retrieves images from selected hosts. “Reset website access” in Help & privacy removes granted optional host access. Chrome’s extension settings also let you manage permissions. Required access to https://pinvari.com/* allows the documented diagnostic requests while reporting is enabled. It does not grant access to other websites or send their contents to PinVari. You can stop reporting in Help & privacy → Usage & reliability without removing the extension.
Your controls
You choose which images to download. You may cancel an export, clear a selection, archive, restore or delete saved collections, remove presets, reset optional website permissions, or remove the extension. Removing the extension clears its Chrome storage, but does not delete files you have downloaded.
Image discovery inspects accessible page structures, exposed responsive image candidates and narrowly parsed image metadata. It may inspect already-authorized child frames. It does not bypass authentication or recover inaccessible original files.
Website visits and support
This policy covers the Image Downloader browser extension. Opening this product website sends a normal web request to PinVari and its hosting provider. PinVari’s website infrastructure may process ordinary request information and load website performance analytics, including Cloudflare’s analytics beacon. This website activity is separate from the extension: opening a help page does not send your collections or image contents. Website visits and optional support correspondence are covered by the PinVari website privacy policy. If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you choose to include so we can respond. Do not send private source links or image contents unless necessary for your issue.
Changes to this policy
We will update the effective date and this page if the extension’s data handling changes. Any new permission is requested through the browser before the extension uses it.
